SAN DIEGO CATHOLIC ADULT COMMUNITY is celebrating 13 years!

September 2024

Originally named “St. Brigid Adult Community” (SBAC). The SBAC grew out of the need to have a place to gather for parishioners who “aged out” of the Young Adult Ministry at St. Brigid. The SBAC led by Nancy Wesseln and a team of volunteers served St. Brigid Parish for 8 1/2years with members coming from all around the Diocese, much like the St Brigid Young Adult Ministry still has to this day.

All realized the need to serve the 35+ age demographic, but the Diocese only had an Office for Young Adult Ministry. Nancy Wesseln and Fr. Steve agreed that there was a need, and it was doable. 13 years ago, the SBAC grew, with the help of the sponsorship of local pastors/parishes who were willing to financially support the ministry, to become a ministry serving all of San Diego: the SAN DIEGO CATHOLIC ADULT COMMUNITY.

When the SAN DIEGO CATHOLIC ADULT COMMUNITY first formed, it continued the mission that it had at St. Brigid: providing activities and social network for Catholics 35+.

Shortly after starting, since the other parishes did not have Young Adult Ministries, the CAC Young Adults formed which had the parishes working together and continues to have this model today.

Shortly after starting, there was also a need to serve members who did not quite fit the Senior Ministries at the parishes but also were not a fit with the “Adult Community.” The “CAC ACTIVE 60s+” was formed!

We continue to grow and serve all of San Diego with the help of volunteer leads and the financial support of our Participating Parishes:

  • Our Mother of Confidence, University City
  • Saint Brigid, Pacific Beach
  • St. James – St. Leo, Solana Beach

And joining us this month we welcome St. Catherine Labouré, Clairemont, as a Participating Parish!

ALL ARE WELCOME!
